catch me if you can

Leonardo DiCaprio

This Illustrator-made Catch Me If You Can poster was inspired by the film’s opening scene aesthetic: simple, duotone/tritone, and minimal. However, I chose to flip that visual norm by reversing the lighting—using light shadows and black for illuminated areas—to reflect the MC’s dark path, even though his intentions were rooted in reuniting his family. The typography is intentionally secluded, with “me” as the only white word in the composition. This emphasizes the character’s ego and self-centeredness, making it stand out both visually and conceptually. The extended lines connecting the text to the edges are directly inspired by the opening sequence, helping maintain the film's visual language.

To further connect the viewer to the story, I included a catch line from the MC to give a glimpse of what they can expect from the film. The poster highlights the most influential stages of his journey—both the roles he played and the people who shaped him. The blue shadows subtly form the shape of a plane, referencing one of the core elements of the story, as airports were central to his schemes. Within this structure, I represented key moments: his student phase as a symbol of his inner child, the cop who eased his loneliness despite being his enemy, the doctor persona and the nurse he loved, and finally the pilot role that brought him wealth.
